A teeny Christmas short story

When entering in the classroom, in midst of the cluttering children do while arranging themselves in their places, instead of going directly to hers, she remained for a few seconds looking for someone she did not know who. Her eyes then met with the ones of another girl she had not seen for the last few days.
She left the books at her customary place and went directly to her little colleague who remained quiet at her place. For a moment she took her little friend hands into hers and then they hugged tenderly. She then said,  without thinking on what she spoke, freeing only what came from deep in her heart: “My beloved, don’t be so sad, from this moment on we will be one, friends and accomplices, the two of us will keep the memories, remembering and missing your beloved parents”.
They had been hugged for a moment, feeling their hearts beating at the same compass. They separated then and, still hands in hands, looking at each other, they saw deep in each other yes, the image of a child smiling to them from a straw cradle.
When the teacher clapped hands calling the children for the rehearsal of a song they would sing at the school Christmas party, the girls perceived an intangible thing, the force that have attracted them was the essence of the boy whose birth they would feast. Then they hugged again and parted back to their places with their hearts full of a feeling of fraternity, the love between brothers that must reign on all Humanity and the certainty that Christmas is always a new Rebirth.
