Karl Marx
developed an important criticism of the capitalism, but what did he propose
instead?
I am
especially proud of one of my granddaughters and her husband. Both mended a BA
in Economics with master's, doctoral and applied for teacher positions in a
Federal University, where they are teachers specialized in Carl Marx. Needless
to say that they declare themselves communists, but they consider that the
regimes in Soviet Russia, North Korea and other places have nothing to do with
Marx's vision of a communist society.
Sometimes
I can induce them to talk about economics, in particular on the ideas of Marx,
whose concepts of Socialism and Communism, in my view, are utopian and vague,
possibly unrealistic, nothing to compare with the proposals and deeds (or
misdeeds) of Lenin and Stalin.
The
conclusion we reached at is that Carl Max was a powerful critic of Capitalism,
but did not propose any concrete alternative to a system, that according to his
political activism, he hated so much.
My
belief is that, although the nineteenth century capitalism has suffered the
evils mentioned by Marx, there was a great evolution since then, mainly a
fusion of Capitalism with Social Democracy, and even in the most capitalist
countries the influence of the State is so important you can say that full
Capitalism does not exist anywhere. Perhaps it can not exist anyway.
In
any event, we have not yet found any other viable system that could replace
Capitalism. At least up to now.
